In the context of the globalized economy and the free trade of goods, speculative practices are developed which have a negative effect on the quality of food we consume as well as on the environment and the socioeconomic living conditions of the producers.
The digital application Map Your Meal aims to raise a more ethical nutritional awareness among consumers. Through the application users can scan the barcode of the products and thus learn about their origins and their production processes and, ultimately, to choose those products whose consumption leads to more sustainable food systems.
The ultimate goal of using the application is the deeper understanding of the multiple impact of our food choices and the dissemination of practices that ensure sustainable and ethical solutions in the production and distribution of products.
For the promotion of the application and to highlight the positive impact resulting from the moral consumption of food products, multiple parallel activities are developed. Those include photographic exhibitions, talks, bazaars with local products, workshops, film screenings, animation film contest and more.
The development and implementation of application Map Your Meal, which was launched simultaneously in four countries, was undertaken by the Fair Trade Hellas in cooperation with the Future Worlds Center, Sudwind (Austria), CEGA (Bulgaria) and CDEC (Great Britain).
